That's the historic reason for those types of wraps.It had a crazy paint job with thin orange and silver stripes swirling around. Actually it was probably a wrap, maybe some sort of camouflage to obscure photos.
But, in modern times, I perceive that prototypes can be camouflaged for multiple reasons:
- To cover over unfinished parts of the vehicle. (usually black, with big visible pads over obviously-missing parts of the vehicle.)
- To cover unreleased cosmetic developments. (Sometimes padded, sometimes sleeker, sometimes a combination.)
- To draw attention to the fact that it's a prototype for marketing reasons.
But it could be one of the other reasons, too.
