SpaceX will be launching Spaceship Flight 3 soon, so I thought I'd share some links for people to watch and comment:

NASASpaceflight on youtube:

I'm hoping this time they make it to orbit and around to the Indian Ocean.
I've already cleared my backyard in case it goes to far and needs a place to land.
We had Skylab land in our state so...
If we're lucky, and it goes long, we might catch the re-entry here!

Enjoy!

Absolutely epic!

Really needed this. Well done SpaceX.

Booster - boost back burn, re-entry burn but just failed landing burn.

Meanwhile, Starship in retro orbit, opened PEZ door.

Next Raptor engine in vacuum test, re-entry!!

I put some cushions out to soften the landing! :ROFLMAO:

Still looking across the sky for the pretty fireworks!

(I wonder why theres no location tracker)

It looks like when it came in and twisted on its side and couldn't recover from there. The plasma views on re-entry were spectacular. They lost telemetry and Starlink at the same time, so likely a RUD soon after.

Apparently, there might of been an issue with the cold gas thrusters freezing up with ice so they didn't have full control on Re-entry and couldn’t get the spin to stop in time. The spin normally stabilises the craft attitude. Might of also had a center of pressure/CG problem on the way through the hypersonic phase, meaning the flaps were inadequate to compensate as well.

They also didn't complete the engine restart in orbit, so maybe they already had a problem already there with the stabilisation thrusters and starting the motors could of resulted in a even worse scenario for Re-entry. Was pretty awesome inflight footage with Starlink, lol and us sitting out here in the outback watching via Starlink. Epic.
