DeLorean documentary. you learned the bit about the threat from JD personally you say.....f it's one thing I've learned, crooks will say anything to deflect blame. Him allegedly telling you, then telling me is hearsay. Not evidence.

lol okay then...... maybe you should watch that video. He was entrapped like a fat kid is forced to eat McDonald's. DeLorean was a crook and the business failure was in part due to his grafting big %'s out of the company into his own bank. not illegal but very scummy with a lot of that was taxpayer investment.

I suggest you research this a bit more before posting these statements. I have read numerous books on the subject and watched several documentaries to get a sense of what happened.

DeLorean was entrapped. Period. The government's case, including their evidence, didn't stand up to basic scrutiny in a court of law. Therefore, he was acquitted on all charges. It was not a technicality. As a correctional officer, I think you may understand this.

That FBI video did serve to convict DeLorean in the court of public opinion for people who didn't bother to read behind the headlines and/or follow the case to the end.

I'm not saying that Delorean didn't make some poor decisions, especially when he was desperate to save his company, but there were numerous factors that led to the business failure.

That’s rationalizing like young people shouldn’t have sex until they first have homes. Hybrids are petro-chem industry’s filter cigarette solution.

Hybrid riches will strike niches causing lasting effects in delayed EV adoption, lingering petro-chemical dependency and range addiction for Hybrid over BEV. People are human and who doesn’t want more? Hybrid gives them more range, anytime they want. That’s gas energy density brilliance.

Petro-chem industry own Hybrids, Hybrid customers and enlists as its best defence to stave off an EOL inevitability that’s done enough dirty air damage to last too many lifetime’s. I agree that transition takes time…if you have the luxury to afford wasting it.
The vast majority of driving is under 30 miles. A PHEV is like a first level EV - not only are they easier to fuel, the battery-electric is addictive. Nearly all drivers of plug-in hybrids switch to battery-electric as their next vehicle. The convenience of charging every morning and the tantalizing of ditching the bulky ICE drive train is unarguable.

This is where regulations can move faster than the market.

I think hybrids are the oil industry's way of getting their foot in the door of another niche, and yes, "hybrid niches will strike riches", as people go down this rabbit hole. A hybrid has a gas engine, a battery, a bigger battery and an electric motor, along with all the tag-alongs of radiators, water pump, fuel pump, air filter, transmission, all the complications of dino juice plus the BEV stuff. Way more complex than either ICE or BEV. All of this for just slightly better MPG. It's what auto makers do until they figure out how to make a BEV.

I still think he was a crook, but yes good on Hyundai for sure. the next 10 years are going to be very interesting to see who survives and who fails. OJ Simpson was also acquitted. The documentaries I've seen covered both ends of the guilty or acquitted opinion, and I conclude guilty.

Every electric mile is better than an ICE mile. I am fine that they count it. Hopefully most of these people are actually plugging in and only needing the ICE motor on rare occasions.

For automobiles plug in hybrid will soon prove to be a waste and will quickly go away. The cost to duplicate a power source will soon be more expensive than just making a bigger battery pack if it isn't already. It is hard to tell since we don't get a break down of the profit margins.

Long haul trucks are another story. Until we have a leap in battery tech, a plug in hybrid might make sense for awhile.

I thought hybridEV transitory and only a small gateway to battery adoption too. Then EV torque in hybrids put that broad smile on Hybrid owners faces! They don’t need no BEV when the thrill of that torque under their toe is 100% fun. That’s when I saw filter cigarettes, addiction and hybrid as petroleum’s buy-in to consumers, regulators and foothold for oil.

Real money can make hybridEV’s look like the better EV, smarter purchase decision and easier lifestyle choice to have it both ways(Range+EV). All while the planet spins in CO2 greenhouse gases. What looked like a short 10 yr. transition role for hybrid suddenly is 50 yrs in the making.

Longhaul trucking is problematic for battery and battery charging agreed. Multimodal transportation is no help. Container broke transportation in Suez blockage. Covid busted shipping by im/export. Panama had 70+ ships waiting 30 days to transit the Canal last year. Longhaul is the Bugbear.

Yep, PHEV is wolf in sheep clothing. We're still very early in the battle, and the choices of EVs are very limited. I myself am looking forward to the day when I don't have to go to the damn gas stations ever again.

Yep

Cost of batteries is coming down too fast for Plug ins to make sense for long. Anyone investing money in new ones at this point is never going to hit break even (likely still lots of profit in existing PHEVs though).
