Model Y anyone?

Folks:

I have a 2017 Jaguar FPace diesel with 75K miles, and lately it has given me too many issues.
I found a brand new model Y that I really liked it, can get $12K on the Jaguar as a trade-in and pay the balance in cash.

  1. Model Y Performance Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive
  2. Midnight Silver Metallic Paint
  3. Performance Upgrade
  4. 21’’ Überturbine Wheels
  5. All Black Premium Interior
  6. Five Seat Interior
  7. Autopilot

Should I do it? Will it devalue too fast until I get the Cybertruck? I can get this car as early as this week and would appreciate your advice.
Thanks!

If I were you, I would wait another 11 days to see the specs and price of the CT. May help your decision on the Y now.

So this 'brand new' Model Y is from Tesla? I do not think you can (or should) say 'brand new' otherwise. The price will drop further when the refreshed Model Y hits the states, but who knows when that might be. If it is Tesla 'brand new', and if you qualify for the IRA rebate, then it might very well be a good time to buy. Too bad about the iPace.

I've had my eye on the F Pace for a while, sad that you're having problems. I'm really surprised you're only getting $12k for the trade in- I can get that much for my older, more used CRV. I think you could get an extra $5k+ for it if you tried.

I would be most concerned with how a Jaguar devalued so much this fast. The Y is way better on retaining value.

Why do people go on a public forum to ask advice for personal decisions?
If you want it, and can afford it. Just do it!
What is this a NIKE commercial? Sorry, jK ?

Seriously, If you can't ask for advice and guidance from a couple of hundred likeminded auto enthusiasts, who can you ask? Your brother-in-law? o_O

I don't mind asking, I don't mind giving and I don't mind receiving. "Your" opinion is simply another data point in my final decision.

I like the suggestion to wait another week and a half. That does sound like a lot of depreciation on your Jaguar? My last JAG was a 2015 XKR that I (REALLY) regret selling it.

There may be a scenario in which we may see Tesla car prices dip a tad more than 'normal'.

1. COGS especially Batteries, Scale production keeps prices coming down.

2. The model Y and 3 have a limited addressable market, price fluctuations push the boundaries of that market. As production increases, we may see lower prices to capture a wider audience.

Model 2 , as another viable cheaper alternative, will likely imo affect the Tesla Y and 3 used market.

Why join a group with people with similar interest, if you can't ask a legit question?

I am not concerned about the price/specs of the CT, just thinking that it can take a year or more to get the CT.

BTW, What are some of the "issues"?
I had a "thermostat" issue on Nov 08th, that cost me $1,200.00 to fix and this Saturday, the same light came on it again. The car is 6 years old, out of warranty and with 75K miles.

I saw the car today and it is brand new, with all the stickers.
In 11 days, the stock can jump or sink, so my thought is to be safe, getting a car that I can pay cash avoiding the 7% finance rate, worry free since it is a brand new car with warranty and when the CT comes, I just trade in.
I can the $7,500 tax credit (It is not a rebate to reduce the final price paid) and just need to check with my CPA tomorrow.

If the stock sinks after Nov 30th, at least I have bought the car before while my stock still great.
If the stock jumps, it makes up for the shares that I sell now.
I have been pilling up on TSLA since Dec/2019 when I signed for the CT.

Thank you all for the feedback and I will keep you post on the outcome.

Nope, You did not. ;)
I have 7 days to take delivery, just need to check with my CPA and installers for the wall connector before I close the deal.
