How your car tracks you - A smartphone on wheels!

Big Brother, not God, is now your copilot and he will know EVERYTHING about you. Where you go, your driving habits, your favorite radio chanels, this information will be sold by auto companies, used by insurance companies and by our government.

Your car can and will collect as much (if not more) information on you as your smartphone does, so be afraid.
We need new privacy laws.

In May, US-based automotive firm Privacy4Cars released a new tool, dubbed the Vehicle Privacy Report, that reveals how much information on your car can be hoovered up. Much like Apple and Google’s privacy labels for apps—which show how Facebook might use your camera, or how Uber might use your location data—the tool indicates what vehicle manufacturers can know.

Well, their privacy policy says they will not sell personally identifying information to any third party, but it does say they may sell anonymized data.

It's really a moot point if one is also carrying their cell phone with them. Of course 'big-brother' would be temporarily fooled if you left your phone in your car and then sent it out on robotaxi runs for the day :).

Only to a degree.
This information will be used to track your driving style and habits. Toll rolls are a thing of the past, gas taxes, too. EV drivers need to pay their fair share and you will be billed and taxed by the miles driven.
Then everyone's car insurance company will demand this information in the name of "safety" and "think of the kids". If you accelerate too fast, brake harshly, maybe too many "g's" in the corners, or speed ... that'll cost you.
I can hear it now, "What are you worried about, if you do everything right? What do you have to hide? After all, only bad people need privacy."
