what would be the point of posting anything or reading anything in the forum if it didn’t matter what others think? Avatar is like a tie; an otherwise completely useless thing that is meant to shape your “image” because it matters what others think. If your avatar looks hostile, people may read your comment differently than if it looked funny. Most of us pick something and assume everyone see it as we do. OP is in a unique position to examine that assumption based on everyone’s feedback. I am much more likely to read a comment from a new guy with a funny avatar than a disturbing one. Of course if we have already formed an opinion of someone over time, the avatar does not matter as much.

It has come to my attention that my current profile pic gives some of us the creepin' willies. I was hoping it was my personality. ANYWAYS, as I try to be a boon (boon? WHOSE boons?) to my fellow forum compatriots, I offer this:
I will put a selection of preselected profile pics for you to choose from. Feel free to provide one of your own. Whichever I will not put my actual visage upon here as would surely be a worse thing to bear.
